Arsenal’s Calafiori to miss Italy’s next clash, returns to London after injury against France
Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has returned to London after sustaining an injury during Italy’s 3-1 win over France.
The Friday’s UEFA Nations League clash saw the Gunners new signing pick an ankle injury.
The injury occurred when France’s Ousmane Dembélé landed on Calafiori’s ankle after being tackled.
Immediate concern from teammates led medical staff to rush onto the field, leading to Calafiori’s substitution.
Despite initial hopes from Italy manager Lucas Spaletti, who said, “We need to assess Riccardo, but with our staff, we’ve a good chance to have him back,” Calafiori has now left the Italy camp for further evaluation by Arsenal’s medical team.
The extent of the injury will be assessed in London, with no clear timeline yet for his return.
