Arsenal mount City edge-to-edge with classic 2-0 win against Aston Villa

Arsenal sealed off a vital 2-0 win against Aston Villa at Villa Park, with Leandro Trossard coming off the bench to make immediate impact.

His first touch goal helped the Gunners overcome their recent struggles against Unai Emery’s side.

Villa had frustrated Arsenal in previous encounters, but Mikel Arteta’s men were strength-filled to avoid a repeat.

The breakthrough came in the 70th minute when Trossard, introduced just moments earlier, latched onto a deflected cross from Bukayo Saka and slotted the ball into the bottom corner with his first touch.

The goal left goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez helpless.

The Gunners doubled their lead ten minutes later.

Saka again played a key role, delivering a low cross into the box that eventually found Thomas Partey, who coolly finished past Martínez to seal the win.

Villa had their chances, most notably when Ollie Watkins was denied by a stunning save from Arsenal’s David Raya, who clawed away the striker’s header from close range.

With the win, Arsenal now occupies the third spot in the league table only on goal difference behind Manchester City and Brighton.
