Arsenal 1-1 Brighton: Gunners held after Rice red card

Arsenal and Brighton extended their unbeaten runs in the Premier League with a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners, fresh off a 2-0 win at Aston Villa, made just one change to their lineup, with Leandro Trossard replacing Gabriel Martinelli.

Brighton, meanwhile, were without new signing Ferdi Kadioglu and midfielder Matt O’Riley, who suffered a serious ankle injury in their midweek win over Crawley Town.

Arsenal took the lead in the first half when Kai Havertz, continuing his impressive start to the season, lobbed Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.

The match took a turn in the second half when Declan Rice was sent off after receiving a second yellow card for delaying a Brighton free-kick.

Brighton capitalized on their numerical advantage, equalizing through Joao Pedro, who broke through Arsenal’s defense.

Despite being down to ten men, Arsenal remained dangerous on the counter-attack, with Havertz and Bukayo Saka both missing key chances to restore their lead.
