APC explains why Tinubu was absent at presidential town hall meeting
Following the backlash that trailed Bola Tinubu’s absence at Arise TV town hall meeting, the All Progressives Congress has explained why their presidential candidate was absent.
At the town hall meeting last night, Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Atiku Abubakar was represented by his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa. Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peoples Redemption Party’s presidential candidate, Kola Abiola, were also present.
In a statement released on Sunday night by Minister of State for Labour and Director of Public Affairs, Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Festus Keyamo, it was stated that Tinubu can’t honour all invitations including the Arise Tv town hall meeting because of his busy schedule.
It was also disclosed that many radio and TV networks in Nigeria had indicated interest in hosting such debates, but out of deference to them, Tinubu would not make selective appearances on some networks, whilst ignoring others.
The statement added;
“Tinubu will treat all persons and businesses fairly and equally.
“Secondly, the busy and hectic campaign schedules of Asiwaju Tinubu will not permit him to honour all such invitations by different radio and TV networks.”
The APC assured Nigerians that they would hear from Tinubu “loud and clear through other forums”.
