Antony shines at Real Betis, matches last season’s Man United goal tally in four games

Brazilian winger Antony has found a new lease of life at Real Betis, equaling his entire 2023/24 goal tally for Manchester United in just four matches.

Frozen out at Old Trafford by Ruben Amorim, Antony secured a January loan move to Betis, where he has quickly impressed.

After providing an assist just 14 minutes into his debut, he scored in his second game and followed up with another in the Europa Conference League.

His latest strike, a stunning volley in Betis’ 3-0 win over Real Sociedad, earned widespread praise, with LaLiga’s official account hailing him: “What a player.”

United’s current struggles, highlighted by their 1-0 loss to Tottenham, have left fans questioning whether they offloaded the wrong player.

With Amorim forced to name eight academy players on the bench due to injuries, some supporters believe Antony’s resurgence is a sign of deeper problems at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has now won the Player of the Match award three times in four appearances for his loan team.
