Antony blames weather for Man United struggles amid Real Betis success
Manchester United loanee Antony has attributed his struggles in the Premier League to the weather, citing the sunnier climate in Spain as a key factor behind his breakthrough at Real Betis.
The Brazilian winger, who joined Betis on loan in January, has been in fine form, registering four goals and five assists in 11 La Liga appearances.
His latest contribution came in Betis’ 3-2 win over Leganes, where he assisted the winning goal for Cucho Hernandez.
Antony’s inconsistent performances at Manchester United frustrated fans after the club spent £85 million to sign him from Ajax.
However, speaking to Spanish media, he suggested that life in Seville suits him better than Manchester.
“The city plays a big role, which is better [than Manchester] and good here. The sun helps a lot. Every day at noon, I’m awake, feeling good, and I go to sleep smiling. That’s the most important thing for me,” Antony said.
Reports suggest the 25-year-old is open to making his move to Betis permanent at the end of the season.
With warmer months ahead and a local derby against Sevilla after the international break, Antony will look to continue his strong form in Spain.
