Angry mother drowns her six-year-old daughter for playing in the river

A woman identified as Madam Stella has reportedly drowned her six-year-old daughter, Rachel in the Bayelsa community river.

According to the report, the sad incident happened in the Ukubie community, Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state.

Some eyewitnesses disclosed that the woman who was searching for her daughter later found her at the riverside playing in the water.

The mother reportedly warned the child to stop playing with the water but she refused. The mother in anger pushed the child into the river which caused her to drown to death.

When confronted by shocked community members, Stella confessed to the act, pleading for forgiveness.

“I regret my actions. I never knew it would happen this way,” she said.

A family member, Jeph Nation, expressed his devastation over the incident.

“I have recorded two deaths already in my paternal family at Ukubie this year. All were painful and heart-touching, but this one was so pathetic,” he said.
