Andre Onana committed to Manchester United despite transfer speculation

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has no plans to leave the club despite ongoing speculation about his future.

This is coupled with manager Ruben Amorim’s reported interest in signing a new shot-stopper.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Onana remains committed to United and intends to see out his contract, which runs until 2028.

The Cameroon international, who joined from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47 million, has faced criticism for high-profile errors, including two costly mistakes in United’s 3-2 FA Cup victory over Ipswich Town.

Despite his inconsistent performances, Amorim has publicly defended Onana.

However, the Portuguese coach is reportedly looking to reinforce the goalkeeping department this summer, as third-choice Tom Heaton is likely to retire and No.2 Altay Bayindir could seek more playing time elsewhere.

United are also considering the impact of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which could see Onana miss a significant part of the season.

For now, the 27-year-old remains focused on improving his form.

He will need to be at his best in United’s upcoming fixtures, including their Europa League last-16 tie against Real Sociedad and a Premier League clash against Arsenal at Old Trafford.
