Ancelotti leaves Modric to decide fate at Real Madrid as his contract nears expiration
Real Madrid star midfielder, Luka Modric, faces an uncertain future as his contract with the club expires at the end of the season.
Unlike previous years, where a renewal seemed likely, Modric’s future is now less clear as he finds himself out of the starting lineup for the first time since 2018.
Modric had turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia last summer, indicating his desire to stay at Real Madrid.
However, recent developments have raised doubts about his continuation at the club, with manager Carlo Ancelotti suggesting that the decision lies with the player.
When asked about Modric’s future, Ancelotti praised the Croatian, saying, “He is a legend of this club and of football. He will have to make the decisions for next season.”
Modric has previously expressed his reluctance to stay at Real Madrid whether or not he is a regular starter.
This season, he has started only 13 times, while making 24 appearances and contributing with one goal and six assists in 1,250 minutes on the pitch.
