AMVCA 2024: Netizens react as Funke Akindele’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ misses out

Mixed reactions have trailed the 2024 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, AMVCA as actress, Funke Akindele’s ‘A Tribe Called Judah’ misses out.

Recall that the 10th edition of the AMVCA which was held at the Eko Hotel and Suites in Lagos, on Saturday.

The most talked-about aspect of the occasion was Funke Akindele’s groundbreaking film, “A Tribe Called Judah,” which was overwhelmingly rejected.

With six awards, including Best Movie, Best Sound Design, Best Director (BB Sasore), Best Lead Actor (Wale Ojo), Best Supporting Actor (Ademola Adedoyin), Best Supporting Actress (Genoveva Umeh), and Trailblazer (Chimezie Imo), “Breath Of Life” was the night’s biggest winner, according to DAILY POST.

In contrast, “A Tribe Called Judah” was the first Nigerian film to make over N1 billion at the box office in December of last year, but it was unsuccessful for all five nominations.

The rejection of the highest-grossing movie in Nigeria has, as predicted, triggered a social media frenzy.
