Amorim told to sack Van Nistelrooy to restore Manchester United’s stability
Newly appointed Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has been advised to immediately sack interim head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.
Former Watford striker Troy Deeney suggested that to avoid the continuation of Erik ten Hag’s troubled tenure, Amorim must start fresh by bringing in his own staff upon taking over at Old Trafford.
Van Nistelrooy, who took over temporarily following Ten Hag’s exit, has two remaining games to lead United; one against Chelsea and PAOK in the Europa League, before Amorim officially arrives after the international break.
Amorim, who left Sporting Lisbon, will become United’s seventh head coach since Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure in 2013, facing the considerable task of revamping a struggling squad.
“When Ruben Amorim arrives in Manchester, he has got a lot of mess to sweep up,” Deeney wrote for The Sun.
“He is an excellent coach, but he has a heck of a job.”
Deeney believes that Van Nistelrooy, whether kept on as an assistant or not, will come out with his reputation intact due to his brief association with the club’s current challenges.
According to Deeney, “Ruud will have a nice pay packet, his stock will rise, and he won’t be tarnished by Ten Hag’s tenure.”
