Alleged killer of Unijos student goes dumb in court (Details)
On Monday, February 21, there was drama when Moses Oko, the accused murderer of Jennifer Anthony, a University of Jos 300-level student, remained completely dumb during his trial in courtroom.
It can be remember that the 20-year-old man was apprehended by Plateau State police after his girlfriend was discovered dead with her eyes ripped out on January 1, 2022. He was accused of killing her in a hotel in Jos, the state capital. The woman who was murderrred is a UNIJOS student, according to the facts.
It was alleged that during his hearing, he was led into the courtroom while his lawyer was already there. However, the drama got underway as his case file was called and the suspect was asked to swear an oath in the witness box.
Oko, the accussed, refused to walk on his own, feigning not to understand what was going on, according to sources. The jail officer who brought him to court, however, assisted him to the witness box. When he arrived in the witness box, the court clerk spoke his name multiple times to see if he understood English or Hausa so that he could be sworn in, but he did not react and instead kept staring at the court without saying anything. Barr. Alex Muleng, the defendant’s attorney, then made the claim that his client’s sanity appears not to be stable.
He stated:
“It appears the weight of charges slammed on him is too heavy for him to bear and as a result has developed imbalanced mental conditions”.
