Alex Iwobi ready for Aston Villa clash, says Fulham boss Marco Silva
Nigeria midfielder Alex Iwobi is back in London and set to feature in Fulham’s weekend clash against Aston Villa, after experiencing cyber bullying.
Fulham manager Marco Silva confirmed that Alex Iwobi is in good shape and will be available to face Aston Villa in their upcoming Premier League match.
Iwobi had faced serous criticism from some Nigerian fans on social media following his performance in Nigeria’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final loss to Ivory Coast.
However, Silva has backed the midfielder, stating that he is mentally prepared for the game.
“Alex is a happy boy when he’s on the pitch doing what he loves, he’s always doing it with a smile on his face.
“I don’t see reasons because if you lose a game you lose a game together, if you win a game you win together of course. They did brilliantly until the final,” Silva said.
The boss also commented on the unfair criticism Iwobi received online, saying, “It’s more strange when there is no reason to do it. Since he arrived here, of course I had a chat with him.
“He’s going to be involved in the game tomorrow, him and Calvin Bassey.”
