Al Hilal tarminates contract with Neymar as player set to join Santos

For the first time in his illustrious career, Neymar Junior finds himself as a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Saudi Arabian giants Al-Hilal.

The Brazilian forward joined the Saudi Pro League in 2023 in a €90 million transfer from Paris Saint-Germain but endured a challenging spell.

This limited him to just seven appearances and one goal due to a cruciate ligament injury.

Despite recovering, Neymar was left unregistered for the league, signaling Al-Hilal’s decision to part ways with him.

The termination, six months before the contract’s expiration, reportedly cost the club €62 million.

Neymar’s next destination is already set, with the 32-year-old agreeing to rejoin his boyhood club Santos.

The deal, running until the 2026 World Cup with an optional extension, marks a return to Brazil’s top flight for both the player and Santos, who recently secured promotion to Serie A.

Returning to Santos is seen as a move to rejuvenate his career ahead of what could be his last World Cup.
