AFCON 2025Q: Rohr hails ‘unstoppable’ Lookman after Super Eagles beat his side 3-0

Benin Republic head coach, Gernot Rohr, praised Nigeria’s Ademola Lookman after the winger’s standout performance on Saturday.

The Super Eagles’ kicked off their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with a 3-0 win over the Cheetahs in Uyo.

Lookman, who plays for Atalanta, delivered a stellar performance, scoring twice in the encounter.

His first goal came just before halftime, where he dribbled past three defenders to slot home Nigeria’s opener.

He sealed the win with a second goal, heading in Nigeria’s third with eight minutes left on the clock.

“I am not surprised by the result as I know the talent and potential of this team,” said Rohr, who previously managed the Nigerian side.

“They played with confidence and flair, and Ademola Lookman was unstoppable,” he added.
