AFCON 2025Q: Osimhen slams Libyan FA for ‘inhumane’ attitude towards Super Eagles
Victor Osimhen has strongly condemned the Libyan authorities for their treatment of the Super Eagles, who have been stranded at Al Abraq Airport.
The Nigerian national team arrived in Libya for the match but has been stuck at the airport for several hours without being allowed to leave or access hotel accommodations.
Their plane was diverted to Al Abraq on Sunday night, and since then, the players and officials have faced significant delays.
Osimhen, voicing his frustration on Instagram, said: “I am disappointed by the unfair treatment my brothers and coaches are facing at the Libya airport last night. Actions like this go against the spirit of sportsmanship.”
Recall the Super Eagles have already resolved to boycott the game in protest of their mistreatment.
Osimhen also called on CAF and other football organizations to intervene, stating that his teammates and officials remain stranded, a situation he describes as “uncalled for and inhumane.”
This follows several social media posts by Nigerian players like William Troost-Ekong and Victor Boniface, condemning the act by their rivals.
