AFCON 2023: Osimhen available for Nigeria’s semi-final clash

Nigerians can now breathe a sigh of relief as star striker Victor Osimhen is set to join the national team at Bouake for the semis.

Osimhen is said to have recovered from his abdominal discomfort, which threatened his availability for the AFCON semi-final clash against South Africa.

Recall that the Napoli star, who is a key player for Nigeria, had stayed back in Abidjan with the team’s medical staff due to the stomach pains.

Osimhen has been a crucial addition in Super Eagles’ 2023 AFCON campaign, almost playing every minute and contributing with one goal and two assists.

According to reports by Sky Sports, Osimhen’s recovery is complete, and he will soon join his teammates as they prepare for the clash with South Africa on Wednesday evening.

The 25-year-old striker, who is reportedly attracting interest for a high-profile transfer in the summer, has been in fine form for Napoli this season, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 18 games.

His return is expected to be a boost for Nigeria as they aim to secure a spot in the AFCON final.
