AFCON 2023: Nwabali reportedly fit for Super Eagles’ quarter-final clash against Angola
Super Eagles‘ goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has been deemed fit and available for selection in Nigeria’s quarter-final clash against Angola.
The Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) showdown will see Nwabali, who plays for Chippa United return, following injury concerns after being stretchered off in Nigeria’s 2-0 victory over Cameroon in the Round of 16.
Recall that super Eagles boss Coach Jose Peseiro had earlier indicated that Nwabali would undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability.
However, Super Eagles Media Officer Babafemi Raji confirmed that the goalkeeper had trained well and was ready for selection, Channels TV reported.
“He trained yesterday. He trained a day before yesterday. But yesterday was much more intense.
“So, it simply means he is available for selection today. For him to have trained yesterday with the rest of the team means that he is very much available for selection,” Raji said.
He however, added that the decision on Nwabali’s inclusion in the starting lineup would be up to the coach, while stating that the Super Eagles are ready for the Black Antelopes.
The game is scheduled for 6:00 PM today, Friday.
