Abia lawmaker assaults delivery driver, threatens to ‘make him disappear’
A disturbing incident involving Abia federal lawmaker Alex Ikwechegh and a delivery driver has recently surfaced, capturing attention due to a video taken by the alleged victim.
In the footage, Mr. Ikwechegh appears to slap the driver twice and threatens to detain him in his generator house, claiming he could make him “disappear” without facing any repercussions.
The confrontation began when the driver, assigned to deliver a package, asked Mr. Ikwechegh to meet him outside to collect it.
Mr. Ikwechegh, reportedly viewing this as disrespectful, expected the driver to bring the package directly into his Maitama residence in Abuja.
The driver’s refusal to do so allegedly led to an escalation, resulting in verbal and physical aggression from Mr. Ikwechegh.
“Do you know who I am? I can make this man (driver) disappear from the whole of Nigeria, and nothing will happen. Can you imagine this rat? I am not going to give this boy one naira of my money.
“I am not going to call my policemen to beat you up. I will do that myself. I will show you that I am a big brother. I will tie you up, lie you down and put you in my generator house. Do you know where you are? Because you saw me sitting outside here. Look at this monkey,” he said.
The driver remained calm despite requesting payment for his service, which further intensified the dispute.
As of this report, the lawmaker has not issued any public response regarding the incident.
