Abia: Gov Otti bans PTA payment in schools
The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has banned the payment of Parents Teachers Association, PTA levies in schools across the State.
This was contained in his new year address to the people, where he noted that the directive applies to both primary and secondary schools in the state.
Otti, maintained that this underscores his administration’s resolve to safeguard the future of the children.
“We have stopped all forms of payments in the primary and secondary schools. Not even PTA levies should be charged to any parent or guardian in any public school in the state,” he stated.
To ensure smooth school operations, the governor unveiled a new financial system for public schools.
He added, “We have introduced an imprest account system for the running of schools. Headteachers and school principals are now entitled to specific sums every month for managing the day-to-day operations of their schools.”
