The security post at the private residence of the impeached Edo state deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, has been completely demolished.

This unfortunate incident took place just a week after his removal from office.

When Shaibu was in office, the security post near the Benin Golf Course in the Government Reservation Area (GRA) was always bustling with activity.

However, it’s quite striking how deserted it has become ever since his removal as the deputy governor last Monday.

It was gathered that the members of the demolition team, backed by fully-armed policemen and operatives of Edo Security Network, without resistance, quickly pulled down the expensive structures with a bulldozer, at about 5 p.m. on Sunday.

A female resident of Shaibu’s compound, who spoke in confidence, insisted that there was no notice given to the former deputy governor, before the demolition, describing the action as barbaric and ridiculous.

It was also gathered from some of Shaibu’s displeased neighbours and passersby, who identified the demolition team’s members as being from Government House, Benin, described the action as inhumane.
