Sevilla to battle Barcelona over Wilfred Ndidi’s signature next summer

Sevilla are reportedly entering the race for Nigerian midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, a Barcelona target for the 2024 summer transfer window.

As Barcelona’s financial challenges continue, free-agent acquisitions have been a focus, and Ndidi’s impending contract expiration with Leicester City makes him an attractive option.

However, Sevilla is now considering a move for the 26-year-old, adding to their efforts to bolster theit midfield.

Currently, they have Leicester’s Boubakary Soumare, who is on loan for the season.

While Barcelona had been linked to Ndidi, the interest seems to have gone quiet.

However, Football Espana says if the Catalan club has flexibility in its salary cap, they might still consider Ndidi, similar to their approach with Franck Kessie.

For Sevilla, signing Ndidi would likely require convincing him to accept a huge wage cut, given his current salary with the Championship side.
