Ancelotti assures Bellingham will join England squad for assessment this week
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, has confirmed that Jude Bellingham will join the England squad on international duty this week.
Bellingham missed Real Madrid’s recent La Liga win against Valencia due to a shoulder injury.
Despite being named in the club’s squad, Bellingham remained on the bench during the midweek Champions League victory over Braga.
According to Ancelotti, the decision not to play the English midfielder was informed by the Real Madrid’s medical team, to avert unnecessary risk for the 20-year-old.
While Gareth Southgate has called up Bellingham for England’s upcoming matches against Malta and North Macedonia, FIFA rules demands clubs to present injury evidence for withdrawal requests.
But Ancelotti has revealed the player will be released to undergo evaluation with the England national team, stating that final decision will be made after the assessment.
“Bellingham will join the England national team to be evaluated. But I think he will be back soon because he couldn’t play tonight and he won’t be able to play with them.”
If Bellingham’s participation is ruled out, he will return in Madrid for further recovery, with an estimated return to action in about two weeks.
