Harry Maguire claims ‘Man of the Match’ award as Manchester United beat Sheffield 2-1

Maguire registered 104 touches, completed 76 of 93 passes and produced at least, 13 successful long passes.

Manchester United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory against Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening.

The Red Devils Academy player Scott McTominay opened the scoring in the first half, but the home team quickly responded with a penalty from Oli McBurnie.

Despite long periods of United possession thereafter, plus several good goalscoring opportunities, the scoreline remained level until just 13 minutes to full time, when Diogo Dalot drove home a winner.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire was named ‘Man of the Match for his performance in the game.

The English defender registered 104 touches, completed 76 of 93 passes and produced at least, 13 successful long passes.

His long passes has been acknowledged as the highest by any player in all of Saturday’s Premier League games.

In his post match comments, Manchester United’s manager Erik ten Hag, praised Maguire for his performance.

After receiving the Man of the Match award, Maguire paid tribute to the late United legend Sir Bobby Charlton, who sadly passed away on Saturday.

He said: “It’s a really sad day and preparing for the game it hit us hard.

“Sir Bobby came into often after games and he lit the place up.

“You could see his aura that he brought to the dressing room and you could see the respect that the lads and the staff had for him.

“We will miss him and the world will miss him, he was a great person and an amazing footballer,” Maguire added.
