AFCON Draw: Super Eagles placed in pot 2 ahead of final draw
The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Pot 2 for the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) draw.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) recently released the seedings for the draw, setting the stage for what could be a tough tournament for Nigeria.
The Super Eagles, under the leadership of Coach Jose Peseiro, might find themselves pitted against tough opponents like the defending champions Senegal, host nation Cote d’Ivoire, Morocco, Algeria, and Egypt.
Sharing Pot 2 with the Super Eagles are their long-standing rivals, Ghana and Cameroon. Pot 2 also includes Mali, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Burkina Faso.
In Pot 3 has South Africa, Cape Verde, Guinea, Zambia, Equatorial Guinea, and Mauritania, while Pot 4 comprises Guinea Bissau, Namibia, Mozambique, Angola, Gambia, and Tanzania.
The final draw is scheduled to take place in Cote d’Ivoire on Thursday, December 12, 2023, the AFCON competition will start January 13 to February 11, 2024.
