35-year-old man commits suicide over hardship in Nigeria

The tragic incident unfolded on the 16th of August, 2023, and has sent shockwaves through the local community.

According to official reports from the police spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, Samaila Ilu’s lifeless body was found hanging from a tree with a rope, indicating that he had tragically chosen to end his own life.

The police were alerted to the situation on the 17th of August, 2023, when a report was filed regarding Samaila’s mysterious disappearance the previous day.

Shiisu disclosed that the local authorities were informed that Samaila had left his home on the 16th of August, 2023, and had not returned.

“On 17/08/2023 at about 1100hrs, police received a report that a 35-year-old man Samaila Ilu of Dungun Tantama village, Hausa local government, left his house on 16/08/2023 to an unknown destination,” Shiisu said.

Sadly, the search for him concluded with the grim discovery of his lifeless body, suspended from a tree, suggesting that he had resorted to suicide.

The devastating incident has not only left his immediate family shattered but has also cast a somber mood over the entire village.

Prompt action was taken by the police, as a team was dispatched to the scene to recover Samaila’s body and transport it to a nearby hospital for a thorough autopsy.

This step is essential in understanding the circumstances that led to his tragic decision and to ensure a complete investigation into the incident.

Following the autopsy, the deceased’s remains were released to his grief-stricken relatives, who are now preparing for his burial.
