Bundesliga: Harry Kane confirms departure to Bayern Munich
England’s captain, Harry Kane has announced his exit from Tottenham Hotspur, to Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich.
Harry Kane confirmed that he has moved on to Bayern Munich in an emotional message he released to Tottenham fans following the completion of his £100million move which reportedly includes add-ons worth an extra £20m, to the German club.
He said in the emotional video shared on Saturday, August 12;
“Hi everyone. I wanted to be the first to tell you Tottenham fans that I’ll be leaving the club today.
“Obviously [there are] a lot of emotions going through me right now. Sad to be leaving the club I’ve spent nearly 20 years of my life at.
“From an 11-year-old boy to a 30-year-old man now, there’s been so many great moments and special memories. Memories that I’ll cherish forever.
“So this is a thank you to all my teammates over the years. My coaches, all the managers, every single staff member to do with the club from the kit man to the chefs, everyone involved.Obviously I’ve built special relationships with a lot of people.
“And most importantly, I want to say thank you to the fans. From the moment I’ve been playing I’ve been one of your own and I’ve given everything that I possibly could’ve just to make you proud and give you as many special moments and memories that will hopefully last forever.”
Kane joined Spurs’ academy in 2004, signed his first professional contract in 2010, and made his senior debut in 2011.
Loan spells away from the club followed, before he returned to establish himself as Tottenham’s main striker in the 2014-15 season, scoring 31 goals and winning the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.
He passed Jimmy Greaves as the north London side’s record scorer in February 2023 with his 267th goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester City and finished last season with 30 Premier League goals as Spurs ended a difficult season in eighth place.
It is expected that Kane will be eligible to make his debut later tonight in the German Super Cup clash against RB Leipzig.
He will take Robert Lewandowski’s old No.9 shirt, vacated when the Pole left for Barcelona a year ago.
