Twins reject reunion with biological father after his unexpected appearance upon securing US scholarship
Nigerian twin boys, who have earned US scholarships, have opted to continue under the care of their devoted stepfather rather than reuniting with their biological father who resurfaced unexpectedly.
The story came to light through a series of tweets by @Ifeade_Lu on Twitter.
According to Ifeade_Lu, the boys’ stepfather, a friend of hers, married their mother when they were still young.
He embraced the role of a father figure, providing them with unwavering love, support, and guidance.
The stepfather’s devotion to the twins was evident in his commitment to their upbringing and education, even treating them as his own children.
However, their story took an unexpected turn when both twins were awarded full scholarships to Barry University in Florida, United States.
The biological father seized this opportunity to reconnect with his sons, hoping to mend the estranged relationship.
Yet, his attempt to reestablish a connection was met with a remarkable response from the twins.
The post reads,
“A friend of mine got married to a single mother who already had two children, and together they also had their own kids. He treated her children as his own and gave them a loving upbringing.
“Recently, twin boys received a full scholarship to Barry University, the biological father unexpectedly appeared and tried to insert himself into their lives.
“The children firmly stated that he couldn’t just show up now, as their stepfather had been loving and present in their lives from the start. He had never missed a day and had taught them the importance of love and respect.
“I am incredibly proud of my friend for taking on the responsibility of caring for children who weren’t his own. I’m proud of him. And I’m proud of the boys for not being ungrateful.”
