Jannik Sinner Early Life

Hanspeter and Siglinde Sinner welcomed Jannik Sinner into the world on August 16, 2001, in Innichen, South Tyrol, an area of northern Italy with a large German-speaking population.

He was raised in the town of Sexten, where both his parents hold waitress and cook positions at a ski resort.

His sibling is called Marc. At age three, Sinner started tennis and skiing.

From the age of eight to twelve, he was one of Italy’s top junior skiers, winning the national giant slalom championship at age eight and placing second at age twelve.

When Sinner was seven years old, he took a year off from tennis to concentrate on improving his skiing, but his father encouraged him to pick it back up.

Jannik Sinner began playing again, Heribert Mayr was his first permanent coach. Tennis remained his third focus, after football and skiing.

Sinner decided to move from football and skiing to tennis when he was thirteen years old.

He picked it over skiing because he wanted to fight directly against a competitor and have more opportunities for error throughout the match.

His parents agreed with his plan to go to Bordighera on the Italian Riviera to practice with Riccardo Piatti and Massimo Sartori at the Piatti Tennis Centre.

Sinner lived in the centre with one of his coaches’ family, Luka Cvjetkovi. Sinner had only played tennis twice a week before beginning full-time training with Piatti.

Career

At age 3, Jannik Sinner began playing tennis and skiing. He won a giant slalom national championship at age 8 and was Italy’s top junior skier. He quit tennis to take up skiing when he was seven.

Football and skiing were followed by tennis. The 13-year-old opted for tennis over football and skiing. To train with Riccardo Piatti and Massimo Sartori, he relocated to Bordighera.

Luka Cvjetkovic, his coach, welcomed him. Later, he trained continuously.

His ITF Junior Circuit career began in 2016. Though he had only participated in a few high-level competitions, his junior rating was 133.

Jannik Sinner went professional in 2018. finished the year in 551st place. In Bergamo, he triumphed in February 2019.
