Kayode Egbetokun Early life
On September 4, 1964, Kayode Egbetokun was born in Erinja, Yewa South Local Government Area, Ogun State, Nigeria.

In numerous police force commands, formations, and divisions, he has held leadership positions. He worked as the Lagos State governor’s principal security officer from 1999 until 2005. From 2005 to 2007, he then held the position of Commander of the RRS Lagos State Command.

He also served as O/C Anti-Fraud in the FCT Command in Abuja and CSP Admin at the Lagos State Command. During his service, he held the position of area commander in Osogbo, Osun State, and Gusau, Zamfara State.
Egbetokun also assumed leadership positions, holding the positions of Commandant of the Police Training School (PTS) in Ikeja, Lagos State, and Deputy Commandant of the Police College in Ikeja, Lagos State.
The Servicom Force Headquarters in Abuja, the FHQ’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD), the Kwara State Command, and the Admin Medical Falomo in Lagos State were among the divisions and commands for which he served as commissioner of police.
In addition, he held the positions of AIG Zone 7 Headquarters and DIG of the Force Criminal Investigations Department at FHQ, Abuja.
He currently serves as the police’s acting inspector general. He succeeds Usman Baba, who was appointed by former President Muhammadu Buhari to hold the position of Inspector General of Police in 2021.
