He is currently the governor of Kebbi State. Previously, he held the positions of deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress and national president of the Nigerian Union of Teachers. Idris was declared the victor of the 2023 Kebbi State governor election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on April 17.

Nasiru Idris Early Life
Nasiru Idris was born on August 6, 1965, in Kebbi State’s Birnin Kebbi local government region. Between 1994 and 2003, he was a student at The Polytechnic Birnin Kebbi, and from 2006 to 2009, he earned his MBA at Usmanu Danfodio University in Sokoto. Idris has produced numerous academic papers on education and holds a PhD in education.
Career
Nasiru was chosen as the deputy president of the Nigeria Labour Congress and the president of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) in 2018.

He served as the former National Treasurer of NUT, the former Chairman of NUT in Kebbi State, and the former Chairman of NLC in Kebbi State.
At the APC governorship primary election in May 2022, Mr Idris won the nomination to run for governor of Kebbi state. Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced Idris as the victor of the 2023 Kebbi State governor election on April 17, 2023.
