“Stop eating ponmo for now” – FG warns Nigerians

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has warned Nigerians to stop eating their favourite delicacy, ponmo or now.

According to a statement released by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ponmo isn’t safe to eat now because it is poisonous.

Authorities disclosed that the advise to halt eating the smoke hides well known as Ponmo follows the recent outbreak of Anthrax in some neighbouring West African countries.

“Signs of anthrax are flu-like symptoms such as cough, fever, muscle aches and if not diagnosed and treated early, lead to pneumonia, severe lung problems, difficulty in breathing, shock and death.”, part of the statement signed by the permanent secretary (PS) of the ministry, Dr Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, reads.
