Hope Uzodinma Bio: Early Life, Career and Net Worth

Hope Uzodinma originally known as Hope Odidika Uzodinma is currently the Imo State Governor. He served as the senator for the Orlu, Imo West district of Imo State, Nigeria, before being elected governor.

Hope Uzodinma Early Life

Odidika In Nigeria’s Imo State, Goodhope Uzodinma was born in December 1958. Attended Mgbidi Secondary School in Omumu, Oru West, Imo State, Nigeria, for his secondary education.

He enrolled in college in 1978 and studied international studies there until 1982 when he received his bachelor’s degree. He had already earned an advanced diploma in transport studies before this.

Uzodinma graduated from the University of Nigeria Nsukka (UNN) with a master’s degree in human relations. He also graduated from the University of London with a degree in political science.

Hope Uzodinma Career

Hope Uzodinma started his career as the CEO of Transurb Technical Consult Ltd, a high-net-worth company but unfortunately, it no longer exists because it filed for bankruptcy.

In Oru local government, Imo State, he holds the chieftaincy title of Onwa-Netiri Oha of Omuma Kingdom because he is one of the relatives of the Okoro family of Etiti-Omuma.

Uzodinma was connected to the previous governor, Achike Udenwa, and served as a PDP leader in Imo State up to the end of 2002. Their friendship ended when Mr Uzodinma decided to run for governor in the April 2003 elections.

He expressed interest in running for governor once more in 2006, but in the People’s Democratic Party’s primary, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume defeated him.

In the end, Hope Uzodinma was chosen to serve on the PDP Board of Trustees. He was one of those who supported Ikedi Ohakim’s bid for reelection as governor of Imo in 2011 following Ohakim’s rejoining the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Hope Uzodinma As A Senator

Uzodinma defeated Osita Izunaso on January 9 in the PDP primary for the Imo West senatorial seat, receiving 2147 votes to 891 for Izunaso.

However, his victory was overturned by the Federal High Court, which recognized Osita Izunaso as the legitimate senate candidate for the party. The PDP’s Orji Nwafor-Orizu-led electoral tribunal had not yet cleared Hope Uzodinma, hence the court made this ruling.

The Court of Appeal granted Hope Uzodinma a stay of execution on March 17, 2011, despite the fact that the odds were stacked against him. While the case was pending in court, he was able to campaign thanks to the stay of execution.

After all, was said and done, the Court of Appeal upheld the previous ruling of the high court, which stated that Hope Uzodinma lacked the qualifications to seek a Senate seat. Mr Uzodinma went to the Supreme Court because he was not prepared to accept the Court’s decision to remove him.

On May 5, 2011, the Supreme Court found in his favour and overturned the judgments of the High and Appeal Courts. Following this ruling, Mr Uzodinma was proclaimed the legitimate candidate and election victor with a vote total of 85,042, 20,814 votes more than the second-place finisher, Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN), who received 64,228 votes.

Hope Uzodinma As The Governor Of Imo State

In the March 2019 elections, Uzodinma campaigned for governor of Imo State under the banner of the All Progressive Congress (APC). Emeka Ihedioha of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) defeated him in the election.

Mr Hope Uzodinma said that there were anomalies in the case and asked the Supreme Court to investigate it because he would not accept his defeat.

The Supreme Court proclaimed him the victor of the Imo State governor’s race in March 2019 after conducting a thorough inquiry. Following this proclamation, Hope Uzodinma and Professor Placid Njoku, his deputy, were sworn in by Justice Pascal Nnadi, the state’s chief justice, in the Imo State Government House on January 14, 2020.

Currently, Uzodinma is wed to Chioma Ikeaka. He has eight kids, which is a blessing.

Hope Uzodinma was elected as a senator for the west district of Imo state in 2011 and is currently serving an 8-year term. His net worth is believed to be over $12 million (N6 billion in Naira). And he was chosen to lead Imo state as governor in 2019.
