Willie Obiano Early Life
Willie Obiano was born on August 8, 1957, in Aguleri in Nigeria’s Anambra East Local Government Area. Willie Obiano began his schooling at the Holy Trinity Primary School in Onitsha, where he completed his primary education.
He completed his secondary school at Christ the King College in Onitsha, where he earned his West African School Certificate. Following this, he attended the University of Lagos, where he earned a B.Sc. Second Class Upper in Accounting in 1979 and an MBA in Marketing in 1993.
Willie Obiano was a standout student in school. He received the John F. Kennedy Award for Essay in 1974 at C.K.C. Onitsha. During his National Youth performance, he received a National Merit Certificate and the Best Youth Corper Award for his exceptional performance in Benue State.
Willie Obiano Career
In 1981, Obiano worked as a Supervisor at First Bank of Nigeria Plc. He also worked for Texaco as a refinery and bunkering auditor, quickly rising to the post of Texaco’s Chief International Auditor before joining Fidelity Bank Plc in 1991.
He was a Deputy Manager and Head of Audit at Fidelity Bank. He was promoted to the rank of manager shortly after joining the bank. He was appointed Executive Director in 2003, having previously served as General Manager.

As a result, he has received numerous church honours, including one from the Catholic Diocese of Onitsha (2008), another from the Catholic Association for Communication in Nigeria (2011), and still another from St Gerald Catholic Church Gbagada in 2010 as the Grand Pillar of the Parish.
Obiano was also named patron of St. Gerald’s Catholic Church, Gbagada Parish (2008), as well as the Catholic Artists and Entertainers Association of Nigeria. He received the Maribet Consult and the Catholic Women Association of Nigeria’s Role Model of the Year Award in 2009, and the Awka Development Union’s Career Excellence Award in 2008.

Chief Willie Obiano is married to Her Excellency Ebelechukwu Obiano, and the couple has two children.
