Morocco files an official complaint to FIFA against referee who officiated semi-final match against France

Morocco FA has filed an official complaint to FIFA against referee Cesar Ramos, who officiated the World Cup semi-final match they lost to France.

While Morocco made history by becoming the first African team to reach the final four of the World Cup, their dream of getting to the final of the tournament was crushed following a 2-0 defeat to France.

In the complaint filed against Ramos, the Moroccan football federation (FMRF) accused him of denying the team two penalties during the first half of the match.

They believe they should have been awarded a penalty when Sofiane Boufal went down in the box in the first half, but referee Cesar Ramos booked the winger for a foul on Theo Hernandez instead. They were also upset about the refusal to act when Selim Amallah was brought down in the second half.

A statement on FMRF’s website read;

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation strongly protested the refereeing of the Moroccan national team match against the French national team, led by Cesar Ramos. 

“The Royal Moroccan Football Federation affirms that it will not hesitate to defend the rights of our team, calling for fairness in taking the necessary measures, regarding the refereeing injustice practised on the Moroccan national team in its match against the French national team in the semi-final of the World Cup.”
