Klopp gets sent off as Liverpool ends Manchester City’s unbeaten streak

Mohammed Salah has given Liverpool a much-needed win which also ended Manchester City’s unbeaten start this season, by scoring a second-half winner in a 1-0 victory against the defending Premier League champions on a day when Erling Haaland’s incredible goal-scoring streak also came to an end.

The Egyptian football star who scored the fastest-ever Champions League hat-trick during a six-minute goal spree against Rangers on Wednesday pounced on a mistake by Joao Cancelo before racing clear and beating goalkeeper Ederson in the 76th minute of a tempestuous clash against the reigning champions.

During the hot-tempered encounter, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was sent off for furiously running out of his technical area, while City coach Pep Guardiola angrily remonstrated with the home fans after seeing Phil Foden’s goal ruled out by VAR.

Defeat for City leaves Guardiola’s team four points behind leader Arsenal, which won 1-0 at Leeds earlier in the day.

Liverpool on the other hand now looks like it is recovering from an unconvincing start to the season, which left it 13 points adrift of City before kickoff.

Despite Liverpool’s struggles so far this term, this still felt like a meeting of the Premier League’s elite after the two teams’ dominance in recent years.

Manchester City’s talisman, Erling Haaland, for once, was not on the scoresheet, although he did bring two saves from Alisson.
