Old tweet where Uzoho promised to put his life on the line at Old Trafford pops after 12 incredible saves against Manchester United
23-year-old Super Eagles goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho, put up an incredible performance against Manchester United during Thursday’s Europa League showdown at Old Trafford.
The vintage form of the Nigerian goalkeeper almost helped his club, Omonia Nicosia walk out of Old Trafford with a famous point in its first of group stage play in Manchester, before a last-gasp effort by super-sub Scott Mctominay.
Before the last-minute goal, Uzoho stopped Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford from scoring, and in the process accrued an impressive 12 saves, with nine of them coming from inside the box.
Despite the 1-0 win, Uzoho was the talking point and enthusiasts have dug up an old tweet where he promised to put his life on the line if he ever plays at Old Trafford.
Speaking after the game, the Super Eagles player described it as the best game of his career.
He said;
“It is a dream come true for me, I have dreamed to play here for a long long time, so when I saw the draw, and I figured that I will be playing in Old Trafford. I wanted to play and I prayed to God to get an opportunity to play and I am happy I played here.”
When asked if his performance at Old Trafford was the best in his career, Uzoho said, “Arguably, yes, I think so.”
Uzoho who is the second-choice goalkeeper for Omonoia started in place of first-choice goalkeeper Fabiano who missed the game due to a shoulder injury.
