I feel extremely violated – Nigerian surgeon recounts how her watch was allegedly stolen on a flight
A Nigerian Surgeon, Halimah-Sa’diyya has shared her devastating experience from a recent British Airways flight.
The Kano-based Surgeon who took to Twitter to share her experience said her Omega De Ville Ladymatic watch was stolen in her cubicle while onboard a British Airways flight from London Heathrow to Abuja on September 29.
Sa’diyya said she remembered removing the watch before going to sleep and placing it in her cabinet, but it was nowhere to be found in the morning on arrival.
The surgeon who noted that no official documentation of the incident was done, said she feels utterly disappointed and extremely violated as it means her life on a British Airways flight could be at risk.
She tweeted;
“Hello everyone! My Omega De Ville Ladymatic was stolen in my cubicle at the @British_Airways airport yesterday. This is an expensive watch!!! @British_Airways kindly explain how my watch was stolen yesterday, 29/9/2022.
“I boarded flight BA0083 from London Heathrow to Abuja. My Omega De Ville Ladymatic wristwatch which I can vividly remember removing before going to sleep and placing in my cabinet was nowhere to be found in the morning on arrival.
“I and two cabin crew spent about 15mins searching around my cubicle, but it was never found. I could not stop thinking of how crazy this entire thing was! What if the thief had planted some drugs in my bag? Was that how I’d have been implicated?@British_Airways.
“As if that was not enough, no official documentation of the incident was done. It was only when I bumped into the crew at the immigration point that one of them pointed me to the manager who then asked me to jot my email on a piece of paper.
“Now, in this period of heightened aviation security, it is almost unbelievable that on an airline like British Airways which has a very high reputation such a breach could occur, even more so in a Business class cabin.
“Unfortunately, this is a clear case of pilfering. I am utterly disappointed and feel extremely violated as this means that my life on a BA flight could be at risk (someone could have easily planted something illegal in my belongings).”
