Chelsea confirm agreement with Brighton for Marc Cucurella’s transfer
Chelsea have officially confirmed a deal with Brighton & Hove Albion for Marc Cucurella.
This is coming after the Spaniard handed in a transfer request on Friday in a bid to push through a move to Manchester City which has ironically led him to Chelsea.
The Blues confirmed the deal in a terse statement released via the club’s official Twitter page.
The statement, titled, “CLUB STATEMENT: MARC CUCURELLA,” reads: “Following reports from numerous media outlets this week, we can confirm an agreement has been reached with Brighton and Hove Albion for the signing of Marc Cucurella.”
Marc Cucurella joined Brighton for £15m last summer and was named the club’s player of the season after impressing in his debut campaign.
Manchester City had a £30m bid for the left-back turned down last week: a gesture that believably triggered Chelsea’s interest and willingness to meet Brighton’s £55m asking price.
