“Move to a high rent area even if you have to live in a room” – Reno Omokri shares tips on how to overcome poverty
Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has shared some tips on how to overcome poverty.
Pinpointing at the neighborhood of an individual, Reno Omokri deduced that where one lives affects opportunities available to him/her.
Sharing a tip, the former aide advised people to move from a low rent area even if they have to live in a room in a high rent area.
According to him, poverty is not caused by generational curses, but by generational bad habits triggered by one’s environment.
On Twitter, he wrote: “Where you live affects opportunities available to you. By living in a high rent district, you will be aware of more job or business opportunities than those in a low rent district. Your proximity to opportunity gives you an edge over those living in a low rent area.
“Your neighbourhood affects your wealth perspective. If you live in a low rent area and get $1000, you may feel you’ve arrived, because you are better than others. But in a high rent area, you realise $1000 is nothing, and that challenges you to improve your earning.
“Better to be an average guy in a high rent area than be a lord in a ghetto. Move from a low rent area even if you have to live in a room in a high rent area. Poverty is not caused by generational curses, but by generational bad habits triggered by your environment.
“You are the average of the 5 people you hang around with the most. Your neighbours either add to your labour or your favour. That is why you should choose where you live wisely. Slums often come with scums. It is hard to rise above your location.”
