Update: Delta govt. shuts school where one-year-old pupil was flogged to death by teacher
The Delta State Government has shut down Arise and Shine Nursery and Primary School, Asaba, Delta State, following the death of a one-year-seven-month-old pupil, Obina Udeze.
Recall that Gistreel had earlier reported how the toddler got his hands and legs tied before being flogged into a coma because he played with water and got wet.
Sadly, it was subsequently gathered that he gave up the ghost owing to the wounds he sustained from the 31 strokes of the cane he received from his school proprietress, Mrs Ogbo.
According to Channels TV, the Delta State Commissioner for Basic Education Chika Ossai on Sunday said the school was not approved by the state government.
He explained that the government’s decision to seal up the affected institution is because the proprietor does not have an operational licence.
Notwithstanding, the spokesman of Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, added that they have commenced investigations into the toddler’s death.
