Covid-19: After ending 10-month strike, ASUU says it’s unsafe for universities to reopen now
The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has said it is very unsafe for Nigerian universities to reopen now owing to Covid-19 concerns.
The union said it has assessed COVID-19 protocols in Nigerian universities and it is still unsafe to reopen them as government has not put measures in place to that effect.
The union disclosed this on Sunday, January 10, in reaction to the directive of the National Universities Commission, NUC, asking universities to resume on January 18, 2021.
According to ASUU, although its members were ready to start work, the government had not put measures in place for the safe reopening of the varsities across the country.
