Desmond Elliot reacts after Nigerians dragged him for allegedly supporting an anti-social media bill (Video)
Nollywood actor cum politician, Desmond Elliot, has reacted after he was dragged on social media by some Nigerians who alleged he is supporting an anti-social media bill in the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Tweets gathered when Desmond Elliot trended today, October 26, on Twitter, suggested that the Lagos State House of Assembly was allegedly working on a bill to regulate and control speech on social media..
They went on to assert that the said social media bill is aimed at enabling Lagos state to easily arrest youths who would continue tweeting about the Lekki Tollgate incident after it might have been passed and enacted.
Their grievances are hinged on their belief that Desmond Elliot should be on the side of the youths in that he is also a youth.
However, contrary to the above claims, Desmond Elliot has said the Lagos State House of Assembly has no bill to that effect.
Desmond Elliot noted that the only thing he said about social media was that celebrities, motivational speakers and all forms of social media influencers desist from “hate narrative” over the Lekki Tollgate incident of October 20.
He however called social media influencer, @DrOlufunmilayo who spearheaded the rumour to verify before posting next time.
