Nigerians react as man narrates how he was embarrassed by his mum’s haggling skills
If there is ever a list of people who win when it comes to getting impossibly good buys in the market, African mothers come top on that list.
However, not everyone feels comfortable with this, especially, their children. Twitter user, @ObongRoviel, recently took to social media to recount how his mother’s haggling skills left him embarrassed at the market.
He wrote: “There was a time I followed my mum to market, the way she was pricing the items eh. I went to stand near another woman ”

I'll never forget the first day Mum taught me how to price stuffs.
"When they tell you the price, divide it into two and start bargaining from there"When I bought my first soccer boots, I had to lie that it was 4k instead of the actual 7k. She still said I was duped 😂🤣

Meat seller: 5,000
My mum: 3,000 nkor
MS: I no fit sell for that price
My mum: Oya sell for me 2,500
MS: Oya bring money😂I still don’t understand how this concept works. You can accept 3k but would accept 2,500. Idg it😂

My mum prices so much I start pitying the seller. I’ll be telling her “don’t worry I’ll pay”. The kind eye she’ll use to look at me sef🤦🏾♀️

I learnt well. I can price for Africa but when I come home to tell my mum how proud I made her by pricing something of 5k for 2h she'll still tell me I should have beat it down to a lower price 😵😵
