Lookman, others arrive as Super Eagles squad nears full strength ahead of Rwanda clash

The Super Eagles‘ camp in Kigali is almost at full capacity as more players arrived late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.
Their arrival intensifies preparations for Friday’s crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Among the latest arrivals are key forwards Ademola Lookman, Victor Boniface, Moses Simon, and Samuel Chukwueze, alongside defensive stalwarts William Troost-Ekong, Calvin Bassey, Jordan Torunarigha, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Igoh Ogbu.
Midfield reinforcements Alex Iwobi, Wilfred Ndidi, Raphael Onyedika, and Joseph Aribo, as well as goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali, have also joined the squad.
The camp initially opened on Sunday night, with early arrivals including Victor Osimhen, Tolu Arokodare, Bruno Onyemaechi, Amas Obasogie, Kayode Bankole, and Papa Daniel.
The players wasted no time getting to work, kicking off training on Monday with gym sessions under the supervision of the coaching staff.
Nigeria find itself in a precarious position in Group C, sitting fifth with just three points from four games.
Table leaders Rwanda hold a four-point advantage, making Friday’s encounter at the Amahoro Stadium a must-win for the Super Eagles.
Head coach Eric Chelle will be aiming to end Nigeria’s winless streak against Rwanda, with the team failing to secure victory in their last two encounters.
A positive result would provide a massive boost to the Eagles’ World Cup qualification hopes.
