‘Best game I have ever been involved in’ – Slot hails Liverpool-PSG clash despite penalty heartbreak
Liverpool manager Arne Slot has described his side’s Champions League exit to PSG as “the best game of football” he has ever been involved in.
This comes after the Reds fell short on penalties, losing 4-1, after 1-1 aggregate.
Speaking to Amazon Prime Video, the Dutchman praised his team’s “incredible performance”, highlighting their vast improvement from the first-leg defeat in Paris.
“We played the perfect game, except for scoring a goal,” Slot admitted. “Last week in Paris, they played the perfect game, and today it was us. But football can be cruel.”
Slot acknowledged that PSG were stronger in extra time but regretted Liverpool’s inability to find an equalizer, which would have sent them through.
“For now, everyone is disappointed. But I know these players – they are resilient. This match had everything you wanted from a game.”
With Liverpool now out of the Champions League, their focus will shift to domestic competitions, as the club looks to bounce back from a crushing European exit.
