Police service commission approves promotion of over 100 senior police officers

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of over 100 senior officers to higher ranks within the Force.

According to reports, the PSC elevated 38 Assistant Commissioners of Police to the rank of Deputy Commissioners and promoted 100 Chief Superintendents of Police to Assistant Commissioners.

This was disclosed in a statement by the PSC’s Head of Press and Public Relations, Ikechukwu Ani. He noted that the decision was made on Thursday, February 20, 2025, during an extraordinary plenary meeting at the Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

The meeting was presided over by PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Argungu (rtd.), and attended by Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje (rtd.), Commissioner representing the Judiciary; DIG Taiwo Lakanu (rtd.), Commissioner representing the Police; and Chief Onyemuchi Nnamani, Secretary to the Commission.

Prominent officers promoted to Deputy Commissioners of Police include Emmanuel Deenom, Olufemi Takeet, Yusuf Doki Sani, Joseph Habakkuk Anche, Faruku Umaru, Danladi Daura, Benedict Omotomilola Olomo, Bernard Adedayo Ojewale, Aminudeen Mohammed, and Mohammed Lawal Bello, among others.

Similarly, officers elevated to Assistant Commissioners include Ibrahim Mohammed Agava, Akinloye Joseph Oyegade, Rilwanu Mohammed Dutse, Ibrahim Aliyu Jauro, and Abdulmajid Isah.

Notably, Godfrey Ogbeide Victor, former DPO of Utako, FCT, now Commander of the Scorpion Squad in Abattoir, FCT; Banawi Ishiaku, DPO Otu Jeremi, Ughelli South, Delta State; Abbas Abubakar, DPO Ikot Abasi, Akwa Ibom; and Celestine Tochukwu Umeh were also promoted to Assistant Commissioner ranks.

Chairman DIG Argungu urged the newly promoted officers to remain dedicated and committed to their duties in service to the nation.
