UCL: Sergio Aguero loses $10k bet after Real Madrid’s late win against Man City

Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero loses a $10,000 bet on City’s Champions League clash with Real Madrid on Tuesday night.

Before kickoff, Aguero revealed his bet, predicting at least two goals in the first half at the Etihad Stadium.

But despite Erling Haaland putting City ahead, his strike was the only goal of the half, leaving Aguero out of pocket.

The 36-year-old, who scored 260 goals in 390 games for City, had also made an outrageous promise on the Som I Serem FCB Podcast ahead of the game:

“Real Madrid cannot beat Man City. If they do, I will cut off my testicles.”

Former City teammate Daniel Sturridge was left stunned by Aguero’s confidence, joking:

“I’m sceptical of that spectacle. It doesn’t sound good to me!”

City looked on course for a crucial win when Haaland scored his second to make it 2-1.

However, Madrid fought back through Brahim Diaz before Jude Bellingham snatched a stoppage-time winner to seal a 3-2 victory for Los Blancos.

Aguero may have lost his bet, but City now risk losing their Champions League hopes, with a tough second-leg showdown at the Santiago Bernabéu awaiting them on February 19.
