Manchester City collapse late again as Real Madrid snatch dramatic Champions League win

Manchester City suffered another late collapse in the Champions League, conceding twice in the final five minutes to fall 3-2 against Real Madrid.

This comes despite an Erling Haaland double in the clash.

Pep Guardiola’s side had taken the lead twice, with Haaland opening the scoring after a well-worked move involving Josko Gvardiol and Jack Grealish.

Madrid equalized in bizarre fashion when Kylian Mbappé shinned a Dani Ceballos pass past a stunned Ederson.

City regained the advantage in the 80th minute when Haaland converted a penalty after Ceballos fouled Phil Foden.

But just when City seemed poised for victory, their familiar defensive frailties resurfaced.

Brahim Diaz punished a goalkeeping error from Ederson to level the score, before Jude Bellingham capitalized on a Rico Lewis mistake to snatch a stoppage-time winner for Madrid.

The result leaves City’s Champions League hopes in jeopardy ahead of the return leg at the Santiago Bernabéu.
