Wealthy man’s family sues caregiver after he leaves her house, car, $100k, and $5k monthly
A man has taken to social media to seek justice for his mother, a caregiver who dedicated eight years of her life to caring for a wealthy man.
Before his passing, the man rewarded her devotion by leaving her a house, a car, $100,000, and an additional $5,000 per month for the rest of her life in his will.
However, his family is now contesting the will in court, attempting to cut her off from the inheritance.
In a lengthy post shared on X (formerly Twitter), the man explained that his mother, a caregiver started caring for the wealthy man after doctors gave him only eight months to live. Thanks to her care, he lived an additional two years.
Before his death, he gifted her $50,000, but she was unaware that he had also included her in his will with a $100,000 inheritance and a lifelong monthly stipend of $5,000.
Despite clear evidence, including a video and legal documents, the man’s family has repeatedly taken her to court, attempting to overturn the will.
“My mom retired in 2017. She took care of a very wealthy man. Before his death, he gave her $50,000.”
“She didn’t know about the $100,000 in his will, along with the $5,000 per month until she is no longer alive. The family has tried to stop it four times. Well, they’re trying again. Lol,” he wrote.
“They have their own money, but they want their father’s money too. It belongs to them, not anyone else. Because of her, he lived an extra two years… They gave him eight months to live, and he credited her cooking and care for his extended life.”
According to him, the wealthy man anticipated that his family would contest the will, so he included a no-contest clause.
Despite this, they persist in challenging the inheritance.
“He put a no-contest clause in the will, yet they’re still trying to stop the money. Most of his kids didn’t get as much as my mother… A car here, a house there, some jewelry… and millions went to charity. His lawyer is defending my mom, and he tells her she has nothing to worry about.”
The man further revealed that his mother’s lawyer is the same one who drafted the will, assuring her that no judge could overturn it since it is legally documented and supported by video evidence.
“Her lawyer is the father’s lawyer. He told her there’s nothing a judge can do. It’s not only in writing but also in video. He made sure to add the no-contest clause because he knew the family would try to stop it.”
He also recalled an incident where the family once fired his mother without the wealthy man’s knowledge.
When he found out a week later, he had all five of his children personally apologize to her, arranged for a car service to take her to work and back, and compensated her for the wrongful termination.
For now, the legal battle continues as the family searches for a way to challenge the inheritance.
